Develop Resilience Sample [4:13m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (64)
Full hypnosis download Develop Resilience
Having ‘backbone’ and keeping going even when things are tough is a true test of character. And ‘character’ is a choice word, perhaps a bit old fashioned and definitely slightly out of popular currency. Instead, we talk about people’s needs, rights, self-esteem, issues and so forth, But what about what comes back at life from the individual?
From Lance Armstrong (who came back from life threatening cancer to win the Tour de France a record seven times) to Robert the Bruce (who was allegedly inspired by the unselfconscious resilience of a spider to come back from crippling multiple defeats and win freedom for Scotland), history is jam-packed with examples of people who exercised incredible fortitude and resilience through the toughest, bleakest of times.
The Develop Resilience hypnotic download for hypnosisdownloads.com is partly inspired by the resilient greats of recent and less recent history.
How resilient you are influences how long you’ll live, how successful you’ll be at anything, and how likely you are to experience depression. Resilience partly comes from a strong background sense, or faith, that things will work out eventually in the best possible way. Hypnosis is used in this session to encourage the unconscious development of great resilience through hard times, because, remember, diamonds are only forged in the roughest of circumstances under great heat and pressure.

Handling Bankruptcy Sample [3:38m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (308)
Full hypnosis download Handling bankruptcy
This latest hypnosisdownloads.com session ‘Handling Bankruptcy’ is really designed to focus people’s minds on coming back from ‘financial ruin’ and starting over with the right mind set. Bankruptcy is a temporary state (it usually lasts for around one year), yet so many people I have worked with in therapy have felt that going bankrupt means the ‘end of everything’.
Of course, it can sometimes actually feel like a relief to declare bankruptcy and start afresh – it kind of depends on pre-existing attitudes to money and personal debt.
Early learning and money
If we were trained to view money as something you only spend if you have it, that saving is important, and that personal reputation and financial status are linked to social viability, then it can feel more shameful, embarrassing and humiliating to go bankrupt.
Psychology and bankruptcy
This hypnosis download session is meant for those who need encouragement, reassurance and hope during very tough financial times. Famous former bankrupts include Donald Trump and George Foreman – who has since made millions with a certain eponymous grill!
And to reiterate a cliché - if you don’t make any mistakes, you don’t make anything!
Anyway, the session is not too expensive, so hopefully the benefits will outweigh the cost. And of course there is always the money back guarantee…

Successful Breastfeeding post by Lyndsay Elliott, Roger’s wife. Although Roger is a talented guy, breastfeeding falls outside his remit.
Having given birth to my second daughter only 5 weeks ago, I am back into the swing of breastfeeding. Having successfully fed my first daughter for 15 months, I took it for granted feeding my second daughter would be no problem. How easily you forget!
Breastfeeding may be how nature intended, but it still takes time and effort to get it established. Time wise, you have to get used to the fact you are never going to be more than a few hours from your child (unless you express milk but that’s way down the line for most new mums), both day and night. Your energy stores rapidly get sucked up, and things can get gloomy very quickly. (Yes, I admit to using the breast to get a few minutes reprieve from a wailing baby!)
This time round my husband and I were under no illusions - the grannies are on a regular visiting schedule to share the load, and the ultimate luxury – we now have a cleaner! This left me with enough spare capacity to re-learn how to breastfeed, and encourage my daughter to do likewise. I made use of written material, I got my midwives to observe and coach me, and phoned a breastfeeding counsellor to answer a few technical questions (like why is my baby’s poo sometimes green?!).
I had a few dark moments (and a sore breast), and the temptation to switch to formula feeding was strong. But with a lot of love and support from family, friends and professionals, I managed to stay on top of it and now a few weeks on, breastfeeding is going well (even if we still get the odd bout of bowel related crying!).
One of the key instructions from a midwife was to drop my shoulders, relax and breathe. Oh yes, what is that my husband does again? Hypnotherapy. And what is that about? Getting people to relax. In a light-bulb moment, I helped my husband write a download to help breastfeeding mum’s like me, to relax, providing another layer of support to enable breastfeeding success. I trust it helps other mums too!
PS In case you’re wondering, green poo is often because baby is getting too much fore-milk and not enough hind-milk. The solution is to keep the baby at the same breast for longer….the things you learn eh!

Overcome Envy Sample: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (392)
Full hypnosis download Overcome Envy
Sure, envy is a sin – but why? Well, imagine throwing a harpoon at a whale, only to find you’d harpooned yourself. Envy always damages the person directing it. It damages you by making you bitter, resentful, jealous and mean.
The idea for the new hypnosis download session on envy created especially for hypnosisdownloads.com came about through a conversation I had with another therapist friend. She told me that she thought envy was a more common feature in her caseload than it used to be ‘ten to fifteen years ago’. She put this down to the ‘desperate commercial splurge of media advertising and lifestyle magazines which brainwashes us all into fixed notions as to what we should have, what we should look like, what we should be’.
Envy separates us from our fellow human beings. Instead of ‘us’, it becomes ‘me’ and ‘you’, or even ‘me against you’. If we are to progress rather than stagnate or go backwards, we all need to manage, diminish and vanquish envy as best we can.
I hope this new session Overcoming envy will go some way to helping this happen.
Spread the word!

Overcome Lethargy Sample [4:33m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (456)
Full hypnosis download Overcome lethargy
Can I be bothered to write this? It would be so easy not to, wouldn’t it, and after all, what’s the point?
We can all be lethargic, unmotivated sometimes. There might be good reasons for this. Maybe we need to be physically checked over as lethargy can be a sign of physical ill health, maybe you are too hard working but don’t realize how hard you push yourself and have now become exhausted. In Overcome Lethargy, the new download I have just prepared for hypnosisdownloads.com, I use hypnosis to motivate.
Lethargy as a signal for change
Maybe you just need to rest, or it could be that the lethargy is a signal that you are bored with life and need new challenges and stimulations. Lethargy, of course, goes hand in hand with the exhaustion of depression. But I also think lethargy and inertia can be infectious and can become a generalized way of being. A prehistoric ‘What’s the point?’ may have echoed around the ancient caves in grunt form amongst those of our ancestors who never made it to the point of figuring out crafted tools, let alone sustainable farming. Because, of course, anything can be assigned a ‘what’s the point’ and then dismissed as ‘too much effort’ because limited thinking excludes the possibility that the point may become clear after the action – not the other way around.
Passive times
There is always frenetic activity in the world carried out by some people. But we also live in passive times. We see successful people portrayed all over the media but what we don’t see is the effort that goes behind the success. We sit slumped in our multitudes in front of the TV or PC, happy (so we believe) to leak away our lives being ‘entertained’ – as if to be entertained is the pinnacle of human potential.
If I don’t try then I can’t be seen to have failed
Of course, not seeing the point of doing something is a wonderful excuse for avoiding the possible indignities of being seen to be unsuccessful. Lethargy may feel comfortable, but so does falling… until you hit the ground. With the new download created especially for hypnosisdownloads.com entitled Overcome lethargy, I have gone flat out for motivation. But I have also set out to unmask lethargy for what it is – a parasite that feeds off and destroys human beings. Without motivation we are robbed of a central human characteristic: the ability to participate in our own lives.
Don’t let it get you.

Speed reading sample: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (709)
Full hypnosis download Speed reading
What do John F Kennedy and Jimmy Carter have in common (OK, apart from both being US presidents!)?
Correct. They were both trained speed readers.
I have so much stuff to read sometimes it drives me nuts. Emails, psychology journals, student reports, client information, cutting edge psychology books (not to mention all the other kinds of books I love to read). Yet like most people I was never taught to speed read at school. I decided to do something about it myself. I have been using hypnosis for fourteen years, helping hundreds of people, teaching its clinical use to practitioners, and using it self-hypnotically. So it made perfect sense to see how I could use hypnosis to develop speed reading ability in myself.
Just how fast is speed reading?
The average person (yeah, I know, there is no such thing as the ‘average person’ - the average reader then… sheesh, give me a break already!) reads around 200 words a minute. Claims of 1,000 to 2,000 words a minute and way more are rife, but careful research conducted by Allyn and Bacon in 1987 and Harris and Sipay in 1990 indicate that recall and comprehension rates drop dramatically if reading speed goes much above 1000 words a minute.
I don’t rule out any possibility, but I have managed to get my own rates up to around 1,000 words a minute with about 80% comprehension. What’s more, revision of the material significantly improves comprehension. Not bad when you consider that the average 200-250 word reader only has about 65% average comprehension on the first reading.
Speed reading and hypnosis
When we perceive over all patterns (rather than using sequencing) we use the right hemisphere of the brain. To speed read, we need to see the words in groups and not ‘voice’ them in our minds. When you see someone silently mouthing the words they are reading, you can be sure they are not speed reading, because they are clearly vocalizing each word. If you ‘hear’ the words you are reading in your mind, you are ‘sub-vocalizing’. This is the province of the left side of your brain. When we ‘see’ the words without vocalizing or sub-vocalizing, we can instantly speed up. And because we are able to see peripherally we can scan many words at a time. This is sometimes called ‘photo reading’ and requires a wide awake trance like focus whilst you are actually speed reading.
Hypnosis is concerned with activating the right side of the brain while quieting down the mental and emotional ‘chatter.’
With this in mind, I have recently produced ‘Speed reading’, a new hypnotic download for hypnosisdownlaods.com. It should enable many ‘time pressured individuals’ to ramp up the rate at which they read in a major way.
Right, I’m off to tackle ‘War and Peace’ (the world record for which is 15 minutes, by the way, according to 25,000 words a minute ‘fastest speed reader in the world’ Howard Stephen Berg. Mmmmm.)

Failing Tests Sample [2:47m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (288)
Full hypnosis download Failing school tests
I’ve heard this many times after failed school tests. Failing exams at school or in college can really knock you sideways. I worked with a sixteen year old who had always done well academically until he failed on school test and felt like he should give up his whole school career. Fortunately, we worked together and – once he had calmed down and reconnected with his personal resources for ‘bouncing back’ – he was able to put that academic failure behind him.
Learning to deal with school test failure
My latest session for hypnosisdownloads.com on ‘Failing school tests’ is really focused on staying positive and not being put off by the experience of failing a test. For some people, failure is ‘not an option’ – but of course to err is human. Dealing with failure – academic or otherwise – is a true test of character. If someone can’t deal with a failure once in a while, then how are they ever going to truly appreciate success?
This new hypnosis session seeks to calm the student right down so that they can put their test failure behind them and quickly move on. While shock and self-reproach last, they just get in the way of future school test performance. By the end of the first time of listening to this download I expect students to feel as if they have emotionally put the test failure behind them, and can focus and concentrate on what they have to do.
Being success orientated means knowing how to move on from blips by seeing them as a blip and not a catastrophe. Because, ultimately, many apparent catastrophes are really very minor in the great scheme of things.
This session will be a great opportunity for students to experience relaxation and calm… as well as a way of sharpening the focus of the mind.
Looking forward to feedback
All the best everyone.

Being Bullied Sample: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (193)
Full hypnosis download Cope with being bullied
Being bullied is no joke. Victims of bullying are more likely to experience symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder such as flash backs and nightmares, become depressed or withdrawn, consider suicide, experience nervous exhaustion, be unable to focus and work properly, come to depend on alcohol or other drugs and of course have time off work with stress. What seems like ‘harmless fun’ to some can have devastating effects on the unfortunate target.
I have often provided therapy for bully victims in my private practice and I also regularly run a workshop on stopping bullying in the workplace. I’ve met both those who have been bullied and those who have been accused of doing the bullying.
Bullying at work is rife. Millions of people report being bullied every year. Most are targeted by a line manger or someone else in ‘authority’. Although of course anyone who bullies clearly can’t really handle any authority vested in them.
What to do if you are bullied
If someone has been bullying you, then you should get help. This means going to your human resources officer or manager above the person bullying you, using a trade union rep or getting legal advice. You should ask to see your organization’s bullying policy. You should keep notes on exactly what happens, including any emails, notes, texts etc. sent to you by the bully. You need to collect evidence. These are practical steps you can take to change things. But it’s also important to cope with the emotional effects of bullying. The new session Cope with being bullied for hypnosisdownloads.com focuses firmly on the emotional fallout of bullying.
How do we define bullying?
Bullying is any targeted and deliberate behaviour intended to cause suffering to another person. You could be on the receiving end of a control freak who just happens to use controlling behaviour on everyone they meet. They may be so focused on projects and work that the human needs of people around them are irrelevant or completely disregarded. Although it can feel like being bullied to be on the receiving end of the work-focused perfectionist, they don’t intend to cause harm.
The real bully actually wants to inflict suffering. They can do this, for example, by intimidation, blowing hot and cold (so you never know where you are with them and so feel insecure), or by excluding you from certain meetings or events or circulation lists (so that you are kept ‘out of the loop’). They may make impossible work demands, lie to make you look dishonest or inefficient, shout and curse at you in front of others and generally make your life hell.
Who do bullies target?
I’ve made a point of clarifying this in the new hypnotic download Cope with being bullied. Anybody can be targeted, but sensitive, quiet and conscientious people are more likely to find themselves the unwilling objects of the bully’s attention. Why? Because conscientious people are more likely to blame themselves if something is not right. And if they are sensitive and quiet, they are also more likely to keep the fact that they are being bullied secret from others.
Cope with being bullied was created with a view to taking out the emotional impact of being targeted by a bully. Once we no longer respond with fear to bullying, the behaviour has nothing to ‘stick to’. Bullying kind of slides off you when you become indifferent to it.
I really hope this hypnotic download is going to help a lot of people.

Get To Bed Early Sample: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (71)
Full hypnosis download Get to bed early
Years ago I had a partner who would complain of feeling tired around ten or so in the evening. She would doze off on the couch in front of the TV and then wake up around half past midnight - feeling exhausted and disorientated. She would then spend up to another hour preparing for bed. This was someone who had to get up at seven in the morning! Every night she would loudly proclaim that she was going to be in bed by eleven - but every night she would fail.
On the rare occasions when she didn’t fall asleep on the couch, she would sit around watching TV and then chat to a friend (who used to phone from her night shift job).
Eventually she got around to asking my help with this (I try not to force stuff on people). I hypnotized her deeply and made some profound hypnotic suggestions that she stick to a certain bedtime - which of course could be different at weekends. It worked a treat.
I bumped into her the other day and we had a catch up on our life histories. I inquired after her sleeping habits, and what she told me inspired me to produce a whole new hypnosis download for hypnosisdownloads.com entitled Get to bed early.
She told me that in the years since I’d hypnotized her, she had consistently got to bed on time and, in addition, slept much better. Occasionally she’d gone to bed slightly later, but it had never been significantly later, and she couldn’t recall the last time she’d stayed up and dozed rather than going to bed. She told me that this change in her habits had transformed her life. She was quite sure that if she had not organized that part of her life, she would not have progressed so far in her professional field.
Too little sleep makes us stupider
I know that I myself am terrible if I don’t get enough sleep. Grouchy, distracted, tired and jumpy - it can feel as if the whole day should be written off. Nowadays, I go and do some deep self-hypnosis to get myself back on track - but if you’ve gone to bed at a sensible hour and got enough sleep in the first place, then that wouldn’t be necessary.
TV channel hopping, internet surfing, chatting with your partner, drinking wine into the night - all these things can prevent us getting to bed at the time we really know we should be going off to sleep the night through.
Over time, too little sleep makes us grouchy, more likely to become sick (sleep deprivation impairs immunity), less able to concentrate and actually temporarily lowers IQ.
The session
Get to bed early is designed to produce profound relaxation and calm. The hypnosis is used to instill in the mind good going to bed habits.
All this talk of sleep is making me sleepy - think I’ll put tonight’s bed time forward a bit…

Stop Talking In Your Sleep Sample [1:40m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download (57)
Full hypnosis download Stop sleep talking
Years ago, a girlfriend of mine used to talk… and talk… and talk… She was queen of the talkers. It didn’t stop even when she was asleep! Maybe she was trying to tell me something (?) or maybe she just couldn’t stop talking. Anyway, her talking in her sleep was confounded by me sleeping in her talk when she was awake and the relationship soon floundered.
Sleep talking and hypnosis
Since those happy times I have successfully treated many sleep talkers with hypnosis – much to the relief of their partners and the vociferously afflicted themselves. After all, your voice needs to rest when you sleep as much as any other part of you. I’ve often thought of my chattering ex and wished I had been an adept in the use of hypnosis when we were together… who knows… Naaa… it wouldn’t have worked anyway!
Talking in your sleep and stress
Sleep talking can occur in slow-wave sleep – just the part of sleep you are supposed to get the most rest from. It can also happen while you are dreaming in REM sleep. It is most likely to occur when we are more stressed than usual. The content can be complete gobbledygook or articulate but without context. My long ago girlfriend would talk weirdly about tangerine golf clubs and speckled soapy bar flies! It was like listening to The Beatles coming up with new song titles for one of their later albums. Of course, sometimes it would take me a while to twig she was actually asleep during these extended monologues.
I have created a hypnotic session for hypnosisdownloads.com aimed at quietening the part of the mind that produces the talking. The hypnosis is also there to calm the mind generally for better sleep and to lessen day to day stress – a causal factor in sleep talking.
So many people have restless sleep, thrashing around and not being still and quiet. This session should get people sleeping more soundly and… more quietly.
Sleep well.
