Personally, I love nothing more than walking in a beautiful forest with sunlight filtering through the branches, the sounds of the birds overhead, in a magical world of refreshing color and sensation. The pure oxygen from the trees and the peace and quiet are such a tonic.
The health benefits of regular deep relaxation
It’s been known for years that taking some time out from your day, and deliberately relaxing your body and mind, has tremendous health benefits. Deep relaxation boosts the immune system, and gives the brain some downtime to rebalance itself. Regular relaxation gives clarity to the mind and renews energy and could even save your life! Did you know that taking regular midday naps for at least 30 minutes reduces risk of cardiac death by 37 percent? (1) The trick is to go into a hypnotic ‘dreamy’ state but not into full blown deep sleep.
Relaxation is healthy and so is being in nature
Being in the natural world is very good for us. A recent study by Dr William Bird (what a wonderful name ☺) shows that people benefit at many levels from time spent in nature. Patients who have a view of a tree after a gall bladder operation have a shorter post-operative stay in hospital, give fewer negative comments and have less post-operative complications. And a staggering 95% of hospital staff who felt stressed felt a positive change after they had walked outside for a short while. (2)
Hypnosis and nature
So if regular deep relaxation is so good for you, and being in natural surrounding is good for you, it makes wonderful good sense to combine the two! Hypnotically ‘being in nature’ can confer many of the benefits for mind and body of actually being in nature. So with this in mind we have produced Forest Walk Relaxation for hypnosisdownloads.com.
Happy walking/resting ☺

Notes
(1) According to the Archives of Internal Medicine and the SLEEP 2007 meeting: Taking regular midday naps for at least 30 minutes reduces risk of cardiac death by 37 percent, researchers find in the first prospective study of siestas among healthy persons. The effect is strongest among workers. A shot of shut-eye seems to subdue stress.
(2) More startling facts come from a test where Dr Bird sent three groups of young adults on holiday, one went to the wilds, the second to a town and the third remained at home; they gathered together on their return and had to proof read a highly demanding script. Guess who excelled?
