Yes, we can all be lazy sometimes, and actually the word ‘lazy’ is kind of old fashioned, maybe even too ‘judgmental’ for our enlightened times. But the problem with replacing ‘lazy’ with ‘unmotivated’, say, is that we can start to feel okay about making excuses for ourselves. The truth is it’s easy to find reasons not to do stuff, or convince ourselves that things that would work wouldn’t. Think of any major building, painting, novel, piece of music, groundbreaking surgical instrument. How easy would it have been to make come up with ‘reasons’ (aka excuses) for not producing anything at all?
Laziness: who’s to blame?
The fact is that laziness is always the fault of the person being lazy. Deflection (blaming others, or the weather, or the influence of the Zodiac) is as old as the hills but ultimately leads nowhere fast as they say: ‘But I’m not naturally musical, physical, clever’ etc. These things are easy to say but actually recent research (1) indicates that, sure some innate talent is important, but the deciding factor in the success of anything is the time actually spent practicing a skill or pursuing a goal.
Our new Stop Being Lazy download at hypnosisdownloads.com is motivating and inspiring for anyone big enough to acknowledge they can be lazy. Laziness, like many things, is something we can occasionally indulge in but if it gets out of control it can smother us.
